President Mohammadu Buhari has insisted that the presidential election scheduled for today across the country must go ahead as scheduled.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last night summoned an emergency meeting of stakeholders to sell the postponement citing logistic challenges in some states of the federation.

Lifestyledates gathered from a reliable source that the challenge arose from some costly error by INEC in the course of distribution of sensitive materials.

It was learned that sensitive materials that belong to some states were erroneously taken to far away state, warranting their having to be transported back to their correct destination. The situation is looked at high quarters as sabotage.

It is in this regard that INEC proposed to shift the election till Tuesday to allow materials to get to their true destination.

Our source who has knowledge of the matter inside the presidency explained that President Buhari insisted that the Commission must proceed with arrangement already in, thus putting paid to the much-speculated postponement.

The source said that President Buhari was taxed at the suggestion to postpone the election after global and national consciousness had been aroused.

He was said to have expressed concern that the election is already discredited, and any postponement would further damage its credibility.

“There’s No postponement. What happened was that they (INEC) took materials belonging to some States to different States. And President was very angry, insisting they must go ahead, it was complete sabotage.

“He (Buhari) believes that the election is already discredited as it is. No further damage must be done to the process

All may hold but some states will start late”, according to our source.
