Election Rerun: INEC Posts Three Resident Electoral Commissioners To Kano

The Independent Election Commission (INEC) has deployed three Resident Electoral Commissioners to Kano in readiness for next Saturday supplementary and rerun governorship election in the state.
Those deployed to beef up the strength and size of Kano office include Hajiya Asmau Maikudi (Zamfara), Ganiyu Raji (Ogun), and Bello Abdallah (Kebbi).
Briefing reporters in Kano, the Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Riskua Arabu Shehu said that they were deployed to Kano to strengthened the Kano office.
Prof Shehu revealed that supplementary election would be conducted across 28 local government areas with 75 Registration areas (wards).
He stated that the affected areas had a total of 128,324 registered voters across the affected local government areas.
Prof Shehu explained that vote was cancelled in 15 councils due to violence, adding a total of 73,173 voters were captured across 116 polling units in the area.
Shehu disclosed that over voting were recorded in 23 councils in about 92 polling units, adding that, the affected areas had registered voters of 55,151.
He said that reserved card readers would be redeployed to all the 207 polling units where the supplementary election would be held on Saturday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner further revealed that sensitive materials are ready for redeployment to the affected local government areas on Friday, as he requested political parties agents to witness the exercise.
